Renovation of a loft apartment in Kolonaki
The 210 sq.m. penthouse – loft apartment on Solonos street, in a typical 50s Athenian apartment building, had been inhabited by people of arts and letters with their own special requirements during its almost 70 years of life and thus underwent multiple changes, while today it is required to fulfill the needs of a four-member family.
The circular movement in the apartment that led to closed spaces-rooms, through a narrow corridor, was the main element that the architectural proposal wanted to eliminate.
Placed on the north-south axis, overlooking Lycabettus and the Acropolis, it was planned right from the start in such a way that the new living space would be open, fluid, functional, with unobstructed views of the two important landmarks of the city from different points, while maintaining its urban character as an old Athenian apartment building.
The project received the Gold award at the Interiors Awards 2023 of BOUSSIAS, in the category: Completed Projects / Residential Interior / Apartment (apartment in an urban center or on the countryside)
