A great honour for the “Flying Box” of architect Myrto Kiourti from the Hellenic Institute of Architecture.
Οpen House Athens 2019 - the city’s architectural tour
The first weekend of April architecture and design aficionados were welcomed in our workspace and were offered a tour of our premises.
As part of Open House Athens, which is dedicated to the exploration and understanding of the value of architecture and the built environment, we presented our own workspace. Our headquarters were designed by Plaini & Karahalios Architects and the construction was therefore executed by ourselves.
We are housed inside a 1950’s urban ‘polykatoikia’ building, where our offices unfold in an open and unified plan that creates pockets of collaboration. It is a space of flowing functionality with three main parts: the core of the secretary, the open space workspace and the core of closed office spaces. The closed offices offer privacy, but their glass window dividers incorporate them to the spatial flow that serves the company’s structure and functionality. It is a truly interconnected space in which subspaces can be created through variations on the floor and ceiling or by placing free-standing objects.
Attendance was far beyond expectations and the interest to explore our offices was great. The organizers, as well as the volunteers that guided the tour, met all expectations. Our visitors’ bright smiles, the pleasant disposition of the tour guides and the organizers’ professionalism left us with the best impressions for the day.
