Massimiliano Fuksas appointed as Honorary Doctorate of the University of West Attica

The famous architect Massimiliano Fuksas was in Athens with his wife Doriana Mandrelli Fuksas, in order to be appointed as Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Interior Architecture of the School of Applied Arts and Culture the University of Western Attica. The appointment ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in the large Auditorium of the Benaki Museum at 138 Piraeus Street.

The event started with the Rector of the University of Western Attica Professor Panagiotis E. Kaldis and the Dean of the School of Applied Arts and Culture Professor Charalambos A. Pressas, who addressed a short greeting. Then, her Excellence Mrs. Patrizia Falcinelli, Ambassador of the Italian Republic in Greece, delivered a short message. The event was held under the auspices of the Italian Embassy.

Mr. Panagiotis Pangalos, Architect, Doctor of Architecture & Associate Professor of the University of Western Attica briefly presented the main elements of the intellect and work of the honoree and immediately afterwards the President of the Department of Interior Architecture of the School of Applied Arts and Culture Professor Efrosyni Mouzakitou read the text of the appointment.

The appointment process was completed with the vesting of the honoree and the presentation of the doctoral diploma.

In the filled to capacity auditorium of the museum, Massimiliano Fuksas held a lecture entitled “Innovation and Architecture”, moved the audience with the description of his journey and his great work and was enthusiastically applauded by students, architects and important people of the academic and political scene.

The evening ended in the restaurant and atrium of the Benaki Museum with wine and refreshments for the guests.

 

The event was attended by, among others, Mr. Nikolas Giatromanolakis, Deputy Minister of Culture & Sports, responsible for issues of modern culture and Mr. Eleftherios G. Skiadas, Deputy Mayor of Athens, President of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Athens and President of the “Association of Athens”.
