Office space converted into a short-term rental residence

The project involves the redesign of a flat in a 1970s apartment building in the centre of Athens, on Didotou Street, with the aim of converting it from an office space to a short-term rental residence. The new needs of the apartment required the construction of a new shared bathroom, while the existing one was integrated into the one bedroom allowing direct access. A key parameter of the remodeling process was the amplification of natural lighting which was accomplished through the joining of the kitchen, living room and hall spaces; special attention was also paid to the support of the individual rooms with artificial lighting. Specially designed constructions create additional storage spaces, enhancing the functionality of the rooms in an elegant way, enriching the amenities of the apartment. The building’s design references formed a key axis of the aesthetic approach, defining the textures, materials, color palette, shapes and geometries within the space. The newly designed arches in the living room, the color gradation on the walls and the geometric shapes that distinguish the special constructions, create visual coherence between the spaces inside and outside the apartment, offering the guests a unique experience.

The project received the Gold award at the Interiors Awards 2023 of BOUSSIAS, in the category: Completed Projects / Re-Used interior space / Hospitality Rebirth Project
