EPIKYKLOS completed the renovation of the 1895 landmark building at 74 Mitropoleos Street, in the historic centre of Athens. The neoclassical building which houses a ground floor, mezzanine, 1st and 2nd floor, having been “abused” by its previous use, was approached with special care and respect in order to restore it to its original form. The wooden frames, the characteristic wooden staircase inside and the plaster decorations on the ceilings have been preserved with great care and restored, where necessary. The two upper floors of the building were joined internally with the ground floor and special emphasis was also given to the atrium of the building. The waterproofing & flooring works, the plumbing & electrical installations and the new lighting design were implemented with the aim of making the smallest intervention possible in the building shell.
The project received the Gold award at the Interiors Awards 2023 of BOUSSIAS, in the category: Completed Projects / Residential interior / Cultural Building
