SPACE CONVERSION FROM OFFICE TO RESIDENCE

Old Parliament Square, Athens

Completion: March 02, 2021
Project Type: Renovation, 59 sq.m.
Architects: Valia Panagiotou

The fourth floor apartment of a 1960s apartment building in the center of Athens attempts to offer a young career-driven couple a momentary base and an elegant lifestyle, with respect to the elements of the past.

After a complete construction renovation and change of the use of the space from an office to a residence, Frame is now completely oriented towards the panoramic view of the old Parliament of Athens. Emphasizing the sense of vision, a wooden perimeter structure frames the facade and the view and accommodates the light that floods the entire apartment. To this end, the interiors were stripped down using special finishes and making the most of every corner with specially designed furniture. With a surface of barely 59.00 sq.m., the apartment has an open layout for the kitchen, living room and dining room, while the bathroom occupies an independent space, with the bedroom and walk-in closet being independent rooms still without blocking the direct line of visual escape to the urban landscape. The Frame offers isolation but not privacy, it is introverted yet exposed.

The project received the Gold award at the Interiors Awards 2023 of BOUSSIAS, in the category: Completed Projects / Re-Used interior space / Residential Rebirth Project
