CONSTRUCTION OF AN APARTMENT BLOCK

Modern apartments, Nea Smyrni

Client: NOVA FUND
Project Type: Construction, 1,260 sq.m.
Architects: Mpratopoulos Elias, b-design

The seven-storey residential building in the area of Nea Smyrni consists of a main rectangular building block, which ends in the prismatic roof. A second “skin” is wrapped around the main building, which consists of a composition of balconies and architectural projections. The interaction that develops between the outer skin and the inner main building, as well as the combination of different qualities of surfaces create a sense of fragmentation of the overall volume, an architectural movement that aims at a lighter visual effect.

The building houses seven independent residences. On the ground floor there is a maisonette with a loft and exclusive use of the garden, from the 1st to the 5st floor there is an apartment on each floor and on the 6th an apartment to which the attic is attached within the pitched roof. The basement is used for auxiliary purposes and underground parking spaces of the properties.
