That’s why we try to provide young students with the opportunity to watch in person how we construct the buildings that represent our vision for a novel urban living experience.
Recently, as part of the EPIKYKLOS Culture Academy activities, we welcomed the students of the BArch (Hons) Architecture (2024-25) program at Metropolitan College at the Vital Blue and Purenest projects’ construction sites for two educational visits on the subject of “Architectural Technology.”
The visits’ goal was to help them delve deeper into two essential pillars of their subject matter, “Structure & Construction” και “Sustainability & Environment.”
On November 26, 2nd and 3rd-year students arrived at the Vital Blue site in Glyfada. There, Iosif Arabatzis, founder of EPIKYKLOS, and Kostas Nasiakos, civil engineer and construction site manager, demonstrated crucial construction details with a focus on various facade applications, insulation, cladding, finishes, material connections, etc.
Our visitors learned a lot about the architectural and static studies of a building and received valuable insight into mechanical details, construction site safety, and project sustainability.
On December 11, 1st-year students visited the Purenest site at Vrilissia, where they met with Iosif Arabatzis and Panagiotis Outos, civil engineer and construction site manager.
Architecture hopefuls saw the building in its structural phase, got a glimpse of the early construction stages, and learned much about the framework, masonry, window frames, etc.
At the same time, they were informed about modern technological capabilities and the processes involved in constructing buildings of the A++ energy class.
During both visits, the hosts introduced students to the proper organization and safe operation of a construction site, the successful manifestation of an architectural concept through building, the environmental implications of a construction project, and the importance of trusting it to engineers who possess the necessary experience. During those visits, all required safety measures were taken (helmets, vests, etc.).
This educational activity for the Metropolitan College students was a unique opportunity for us to pass on our knowledge and share our experiences with tomorrow’s architects. It’s something that gives us great pleasure, and we remain committed to organizing similar activities through the EPIKYKLOS Culture Academy.
